WHAT #43? GO TO THE SWING ARM PAGE, ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,lmconbs wrote:Below is the exploded view of the early wheel I am working from. Click on it to enlarge.
I DO NOT need #15 the spacer with the 3 metal tangs (What do those do?) THIS PART IS INSIDE THE HUB AND HELD IN PLACE BY THE BEARINGS.
I need spacer #26 (Does it slide over the end of #19 or butt against it?) FOLLOW THE LINE AND YA WILL SEE IT GOES ON THE AXLE AND SPACES THE BRAKE PANEL
I need the axle nut #28 for 17mm axle. I PROBABLY HAVE ONE
I need one of the #27 bolts that attach the sprocket to the flange #21 I HAVE ONE
I need one outside spoke and nut. I HAVE ONE
I think I need a chain adjuster for the left side that would oppose #43 on the right. Unless I am really missing something, there is no left side adjuster in this exploded view. I think I need one, but am not sure.
Early cl77 rear wheel part needed
Okay, if anybody asks I will tell them LOUDMOUSE is one of the smartest guys I know. I didn't think about looking on the swing arm page. But this is getting even more wierd, so I don't feel so bad.
#43 on my diagram for the early wheel is shown as part # 40543-273-010. That's for Rear Wheel (1) up through CL77-1014495. No Left side chain adjuster shown in the picture or on the listed parts. For Rear Wheel (2) they show #40543-273-010 for both sides. Same part # as early wheel. On my Swing arm page it shows the same part number for the early (up to CL77-1014495) right side AND #40544-273-010 for the left side. But it shows a different number 40543-273-020 for both sides of the late wheel. That is a different from the number shown on the "Rear Wheel (2)" page for both sides. It gets a little more tricky. The chain adjusters in the prictures are different, too. On the Swing arm page, it shows two different looking adjusters. Left side has a round hole, and right side has a slot. On the Rear Wheel (1) page, it shows the round hole on the right and no chain adjuster for the left. Which one is the right picture? My HONDA manual from 1973 seems to have irreconcilable issues among the pages. Probably other manuals do, too. I am guessing the following: 1. Late wheel uses a 20mm axle and #40543-273-020 chain adjusters for both sides w/ 20mm round hole. 2. Early wheel uses 17mm axle with 40543-273-010 round hole (17mm) chain adjuster for the left side (which I have) and #40544-273-010 slotted chain adjuster for the right side (which I need). This seems like a whale of a lot of trouble over a chain adjuster, but what I have tried to buy off of ebay hasn't worked either. Per the foregoing, I am not even sure what I need to buy. HELP! BTW Can anybody help with the other parts? Whoops. I think I have the parts numbers I am guessing reversed in #2 of my last post.
My guess is revised as follows: 2. Early wheel uses 17mm axle with round hole (17mm) chain adjuster #40544-273-010 for the left side (which I have) and # 40543-273-010 slotted chain adjuster for the right side (which I need). In short, I need the slotted chain adjuster for a 17mm axle.
