WTB: CB77 Right side engine cover and/or starter

Post by sdaigle240 » Wed May 13, 2009 9:04 am

Hello All, new here but not to forums. Im sure no one is too keen on selling to newbs but hopefully someone is willing to help.

Ive had it with my starter, and my CB came with a CL cover(?) so there is no kick starter. I do have the original cover which has been destroyed and re welded many times, i guess someone held onto it for the kick start hardware. Id prefer a cover with the gears/springs already installed as mine are rusted to crap, a bit worn etc. (from kick start rocking around post cover break)

also Id be interested in a rebuilt starter, I saw LM mention he had one/some. Any one interested in helping a new dream, and hawk owner Shoot me a PM.

Im leaning towards the cover as Ive yet to dig into both sides of my starter, Im sure i can rebuild it once i get a chance but for the time being i just need a way of turning the motor over to get her running. Its one of those things where i just want to get it running before I bust out the check book.

once i get these things running and somewhat put back to gether i'll be sure to make a thread. Also If anyone is concerned selling to a new guy I'd be happy to point you in the direction of my local/national auto forums where i have a pathetic amount of activity.

thanks

Steve

Ya will for sure "break out your checkbook"if ya want that cover and parts.
If ya have the starter and have any mechanical talent ya may be able to start/run your engine for little $$$$$$$$ but some effort on your part.. .....lm

ok, good reality check. I had often seen covers on ebay for 30$ which needed hardware, but the covers dont always look to be definite cb covers although claimed to be, so i was unsure.

So far i only checked the gears, and re soldered the power wire. I'll have to get all the way into it, with the brushes and what not. It cant be too bad or uncommon as i see the servicable replacement parts on ebay. Thanks

Im going to keep an eye out for a cover as well, and start stripping/cleaning the hardware i have in the original cover.

I figured i'd throw it out there..... at first the starter kinda worked, then it obviously had a short. so i soldered the power wire internally, worked great. installed it, nothing but a humm..... took it off, still nothing, gave it a good wack and it worked. re installed, nothing. In case the "worn/broken" item dosent jump out at me is there somthing specific i should be paying attention to based on my description when its apart. lil frusterating, it worked great, i did the rollers springs and caps and of course it stopped working.

I also have a dream, starter looks the same but i couldnt confirm it via research...

Thanks
