BRAIN FART PART ID'D WE HAVE A WINNER!!!!

Post by jcspc » Wed Apr 15, 2009 7:13 pm

I took this off for my refinishing tear down and I don't remember where it came from. I also took a lot of pics of the bike during the take apart and I don't see it there either.
Kudos to the first to id, with many thanks...
It is from a 65 CL77

I ASSUME THIS CAME OFF YOUR 65 CL77. I HAVE MY 65 CL77 READY TO GO TO THE PAINTER. I HAVE EVERY PIECE THAT IS TO BE PAINTED RED LISTED ON AN INVENTORY LIST FOR THE PAINTER. I DO NOT HAVE YOUR MYSTERY PART ON THE LIST OR IN THE BOX. I CANNOT WAIT TO HEAR WHAT IT IS AND WHERE IT GOES. MAYBE ANOTHER PICTURE FROM A DIFFERENT PERSPECTIVE WOOD HELP.

WE HAVE A WINNER!!!

DAVOMOTO IDENTIFIED THE PART. HE WROTE BACK:

"Jeff, sorta looks like a timing mark indicator from a V-8. Does not look like it cam off of a CL77. Perhaps a good part to hang from the wall of shame. I've had to enlarge my wall of shame over the years, as I continue to do stupid things, all in the name of learning! By the way, the bike looks awsome! I have a 65 CL77 that I can't wait to get started on. It will be a keeper for sure."

AS SOON AS I READ THIS I KNEW, IT IS THE TIMING MARK INDICATOR FROM MY 1985 FORD F-250
DIESEL THAT I PULLED LAST SUMMER AND SOMEHOW IT ENDED UP IN MY PILE OF STUFF. NOW IT IS A VERY NICE POWDER COATED RED PART THAT I CAN PUT ON EBAY AND PAY FOR THE COST OF COMPLETE RESTORATION OF MY CL77!!!!!!!!!!!!!!YEAHHHHHHHHHHHHH

THANKS AND KUDOS TO DAVOMOTO- TRULY A MOTOR KIND OF GUY!

That would be a great april fool's joke for the painter.... you send out a bunch of parts to get painted and he throws in a little something extra just for grins..... I like that.
