Another question, Where does the hole with the red circle go too? I've been trying for a couple of hour to clear the passage but can't seem to get it cleared, want to try to clean from the other side but not sure where it leads.. Tried to check on the other carb but it too seems to be clogged... Tryin' to stay on two wheels
JMHO, Joel, the dings on the cutaway look like they've been caused by a screwdriver or other implement; perhaps the slides were gummed up from standing unused, in a previous life?
And the wear on the slides looks pretty normal to me. I have a pair of 2000-mile '67 carbs on my CB; they look pretty well brand new. But my original '64 carbs, at 30K miles, had similar wear to yours; they performed flawlessly. I only changed them because I won the '67s on eBay in a moment of OCD madness, like most of the new or newish bits & pieces I spend my hard-earned Euros on! My 'new' carbs do look nice though......
Hey Steve, Yeah, it looks just like that... I wouldn't be surprised, the bike's been sitting since the 70's...
As for the picture above, whats the chance it doesn't lead to anything??? Every other hole I can find, blows through, grrr... Well I'm going to keep at it for a little while longer, then put it back on and see how it runs... Joel Tryin' to stay on two wheels
HaHa, She ran the best I've gotten her so far... BUT, it seems, when I figure out one issue, two more pop up...
New Issues: 1) I was getting very low pressure from the left side. Or at least, when I put my hand near the end of the exhaust I could feel very little pressure. Decided to play with the air screw on the left side and I got the pressure back but with the pressure came a fair amount of white-ish smoke... but the pressure seemed good on both sides. (when I did a compression test when I got the bike, it was something like 150 psi) 2) 1st gear rides a little rough. But doesn't bog down like it had been doing, just not very smooth. The rest of the gears feel great!!! 3) A problem that just ruined my fun for the night. The running tail light came back on, just like that... But then after a few times up and down the street, ALL power died. My guess is I have a short or a bad ground somewhere... Check the fuse and it's fine... I'll post a thread on the electrical in the right forum after I spend some time looking at it and seeing if I can figure it out first, but does anybody have any idea's about the first two problems??? Can't shed any light on that one, but see if the following extracts from the Honda shop manual help. Remember that the Power Jet system refers only to the PW22 carbs fitted to the CB72. Perhaps that's an undrilled passage in the PW26?
You can many times trace these if you study the carb close. The channels are all straight and look to be drilled from the outside of the carb body. Where they turn, you will see the ends plugged, and another channel running a different direction. Most times you can get an idea of where they are going.
