YEAH!!! J W Bert, you called it... Just rode it down the block and back... Thank you so much!!!! I even got my electrical worked out mostly, running tail light and low beam still not working, but I'll figure that out...

But this thread is carbs, so, The only other issue I have with them are that to idle right I have to keep the choke lever all the way up but to get into first gear I have to push it all the way down. And even then it bogs out unless I give it full throttle while I release the clutch or it dies.

Honestly, I haven't search the forum for this problem yet. I was to excited that it worked (almost) and wanted to say thanks. And I lost light so not much I can do tonight anyway...

Are your o-rings between carb and spacer and carb spacer and head in good shape, (round and soft, not hard and flat). It sounds like you have an air leak, I'm not real crazy about your high temp silicone idea, it may have worked temporarily but o-rings are what the design calls for. What do you think EMO? jwb

Another thought, did you run through all or most of that fuel with the bike sitting still? Remember these are air cooled and either run a fan on the engine or get it out and in some air so you don't over heat the thing a bunch. jwb

It only had one of the o rings, hence the silicon... But, I thought if I had an air leak I'd be revving high (my original problem), not low, which is what it seems to do when I get into first gear? Like its not getting enough fuel, but once I get going in first it seems to run ok, not great but not bad. It feels real close, just getting it going in first seems like it shouldn't need that much throttle. Revs fine while on the center stand. I'll be a few days before I can get back out to work on it, But I'll try to find an o ring and change it out on Friday and let you know if that changes anything.

I ran most of the tank sitting still, but, um, there was a nice little breeze...

Joel, think of it this way, if the engine is fully warmed up and running good at idle, what happens when you put the choke on? It dies, right? Why it dies is because you cut off its air. So if yours runs at idle the best only when choke is full on, it must be getting its' air from somewhere else, ie a leak someplace in front of the choke. When you go full throttle and can then take the choke off that is because you are now giving enough gas to mix with the air from both places, the leak and thru the normal opening, but it will probably be very lean, thus way down on power. jwb

Main jet(s) clogged with shite? If the carbs are little Kei Hin versions of the PW22 or PW26, then the idle jet controls the mixture below ¼-throttle. Main jet / needle position thereafter.

I'd strip & clean the carbs fully before proceeding further.

I gave the carbs the once over before I tried to start the bike the first time, but maybe I missed something... So, I know what I'll be doing on Friday :)

J W Bert, thanks for clarifying that for me, I'm hoping to get these bikes down well enough that I will be able to give advise and not just ask for it.. Most of my experience is with old Vespas although your explanation would hold true for them as well. So, I'll just chalk it up to my ability to be a bit dim..

Steve, Cleaning carbs is not one of my favorite things so I probably did miss something the first time, I'll take me time on them this time and report back on Friday. Thanks for everything.

I'll have plenty of time to learn, I also have a CA72 and a CA160 that both need some work once I'm done with this bike. So hopefully you guys won't be getting tired of me any time soon.

As always, Thanks for all your time, experience and help, it really means a lot to me as I'm sure it does to all the noobs on here,
