I plan on installing a set of winkers (blinkers) on my bike for daily use. I know its not original, but the bike will do me no good if I'm dead ; ) I was wondering if these winker switches would work on my CB77? I'm not very knowledgeable in the electrical/wiring field, but at face value this doesn't seem like such a difficult thing to do with a little guidance.

So if these are a total bust, and I was barking up the wrong tree, does anyone have any suggestions for a solutions. Looking forward to hearing the responses.

Scott, that's a r/h switch (a r/h is what you need) and could prove useful if:
  • a) you're prepared to cut/grind/polish off the lever perch, and
    b) if the throttle cave suits a CB's twistgrip pipe, or
    c) if you can obtain a throttle pipe that suits that switch and
    d) said pipe suits a CB throttle cable
Edit: oh, bollox, that is a l/h and, therefore, totally unsuitable! I really should wear these bloody specs more....

Alternatively, watch eBay for a CP77 r/h switch/starter button ass'y, which is what I did. It cost me $165 from Japan, though! But it does do a pukka job of it.

PS: I'm more than happy to hold your hand through the wiring:
  • If your harness is original fitment (with a year tag) you'll need a couple of metres each of orange and light blue 0.75mm² (18AWG) cable, plus a metre or so each of grey (gray) and green (for grounding ~ let's not rely on brackets!) and 30cm of black. You could start with running the orange, the light blue and the grey from the headlamp bucket to the taillight connectors' exits at the rear fender, either in their own sheathing or, preferably, certainly within the bucket-to-frame sheath.

    The black will be for the ignition supply from terminal 'IG' to a flasher relay '+', to be located around the rectifier or thereabouts. The grey will run from the flasher relay 'L' (Lamps) [or sometimes denoted as 'X'] to the centre contact of the switch (that you don't have yet); this will be a connection inside the bucket, as switches normally have their own 4-wire harness (1 for the starter button).

    If you have a Honda replacement harness, as do I, then you'll probably have these wires included already. That type of harness won't have a year tag (thanks to LM for the info on that one, some months back!).

    If you have the wires AND a year tag, then you possibly have a harness from a market-dependent CP (or a CBM72, I have also learned this week!!)
