Fuel dripping out of muffler???

You probably already did, but if not...change the oil and clean the filter before starting it.

OK, I took off the exhaust, pumped the kick start a few times until it stopped spraying out fluid. I held open the throttle and spayed cleaner into the carb. the cleaner started dripping out the exhaust hole within seconds. I pumped the kick start again until it stopped spraying out. Decided to try one more time and this was a little weird. Sprayed cleaner into carb (a little more then I had the previous times) and it didn't leak... I tried the kick start, it was locked. To much pressure in the cylinder, I think, so I pull the plug. Kicks over easy, spraying, spitting, gurgling cleaner.

This just leads me to all sorts of questions, but for the most pressing ones;

a) How could I get that much pressure if the valves are bad? (Compression test showed 150psi's)

b) What are the chances of the first few times I spray the cleaner in, it comes out without even pumping the kick start and the last time it doesn't.

I mean, I know its got to go somewhere, (I don't have the electrical to the plugs hooked up,) but shouldn't it have to be kicked over? Unless there was so much cleaner, old gas and oil in the cylinder that it was just flooding out ever time I put more in??? But still, I spay into the carb and it drips out the exhaust side (without kicking) says to me that the valves are bad...

Am I wrong???

I might just hook up a battery and try to start it, just to see what happens. (Bad Idea????)

And all I can see when I look up the exhaust hole is the valve rod moving up and down when kicked.

PS, Sorry for ranting, I'm just really trying to understand this...

HA, Fuel out of the muffler. I wish that was my problem now...

So I put the CL160 back together, put a half gallon in the newly cleaned tank, and then...

Out of the newly rebuilt petcock, Gas is pouring out almost as fast as I was putting it in... Upon closer inspection I see its coming from the Valve Lever mostly towards the back screw. I grab my Phillips head and go to tighten the screw and it just spins. That's not good, I think to myself. I pull away the magnetic tipped screw driver and half the screw comes with it. Grrrr

I pull off the Valve Lever, hoping against hope that a piece of the screw will be sticking out. Just anything to grab hold of. Nope...

Don't have a bolt extractor that small (And not sure I've ever seen one that small) So I take out the smallest drill bit I have and give it a go. Not much luck (except the bad kind, when I slipped off the steel screw and onto the nice soft aluminum)

Then it got dark.

So before the morning, when I go back to it, does anyone have any suggestions? Or Maybe a petcock body they'd be willing to sell on the cheap??? :-D

Oh, some good news too. After the fuel had drained, I figured there was sure to be some gas in the carbs so I turned the key and hit the start button... She fired right up. Bittersweet but beautiful.

so, yeah, any suggestions on how to get that tiny little half a screw out???

Petcock is fixed, but it doesn't look pretty..

About a pound of gasket maker (for fuel) on and around it. but it works.

Drilled out the old screw, to 4mm tapped in new threads, found a 12mm long bolt, put about 10 washers on it. and it works, ugly but whatever.
