Carb body/float bowl

Post by kinsight » Sun Sep 25, 2005 8:11 am

'64 CB77 left side carb is leaking. I rebuilt the carbs with new floats, needle and seats, then discovered the carb body is warped (float bowl rocks when placed on body). Is there a solution to this problem, short of buying a new carb?

Not unusual for this to happen if the gasket isn't installed. You may want to put the gasket into the carb and see if it has swollen and doesn't seal the bowl between the corners. This is common also.
The cure is to put the gasket in the sun until it dries and shrinks back to normal size. .................LM

I installed a new neoprene gasket when I rebuilt the carb.
I wouldn't think this type of gasket would swell.
Are you talking about a cork gasket?

I'm talking about the rubber ones we use today and when they soak in the gas we get today they swell like crazy.
Did you check as I recommended? ..........LM
