No kick starterNo kick starterTell me if I created this problem.... I put grease in the fittings at the clutch and kickstarter and now when I kick the kickstart it just rotates to the bottom like some kund of clutch is slipping. I can push start it and sometimes it does not slip and starts. Its a CL-72 1965 250 Scrambler. I don't know if I want to remove the side cover or not. I am takingit to a professional at the local Honda dealer next week for a tune up and may let them fix it. Any ideas?
Re: No kick starterDeminutive Officer, I cant imagine a shot of grease causing the kick start to cease function. If you have a shop manual I would recomend taking the side off the engine for a look. You got nothing to loose at this point. I am more versed on CBs whose kick start system is different (really not sure how different) but when the kicker does that on a CB you suspect the pawl that is on the left side of the engine. I think at this point I'm outta gas as far as advice mabey someone else will jump in,Good Luck. Steve Greer
Re: No kick starterIf your engine is not turning over and you feel no resistance I'd say your pawl assy. on the kick start shaft has got a problem or gear on kickstart shaft is damaged. I know on the CA77 which I think has the same bottom end as the CL's requires the case to be split to get at it. Only other thing is if the splines on the kick start shaft are stripped. You can check that by pulling off right side cover and looking at shaft and splines in kickstart assy. My 2cents.
Re: No kick starterHey, I found out when I out the tank back on I got the clutch cable in a bind; lossened the adj and everything seems ok now.
