It should be ok, you are just putting the wires together, as if the switch is on # II position, my book shows the pink and yellow hook together. Then also the Black/white, green and brown, have to hook together.

Would your new headlight bucket have room for a 10-amp / 2-pole toggle switch? http://www.radioshack.com/product/index ... Id=2062537
If so, I'll post you a diagram.

Have you given thought to cramming in the other wiring? The back of the reflector will get quite hot with the light on.

thanks for the replies! so i would rather have no toggle switch at all. as far as wiring being in the headlight bucket im only going to have the 2 wires coming directly from the headlight bulb itself. im trying to make it simple as possible. the ultimate goal would to have no light switch toggle or other ( if possible?) i would like to wire it just to the handle bar switch with the down position being off and the up position being on. in the on position i would prefer it to be high beam since this headlight is only about 5" round. i dont know if this is possible? will it mess with the charging system? i am a super rookie at all this wiring stuff and pretty much building a bike in general so bear with me. i have rigged a 35w/35w halogen bulb into a small headlight bucket with a ground wire being connected from the bulb to the headlight bucket itself. any info, diagrams, and such will be very much appreciated. this is the last step before i can tear this thing apart, powdercoat the frame and reassemble!

One advantage to having the switch is so you can shut off the light to give your starter full battery power. Newer bikes sometimes have an automatic switch that will do this for you when you start the bike.

I have little experience with my CB77 as it is new to me. I have read the charging system is not real strong, so running the high beams with a halogen may outrun the charging system and drain the battery.

Deez, connect:
  • a) IG - ignition (blk or blk with wht tube), with HL - headlamp dimmer sw (brn) and ML - meter lamp (grn)
    b) SE - selenium retifier (yel) with DY - dynamo (pk)
Provided you don't have the modified dimmer switch (where some States required no 'null' central position and you get both hi and lo beam filaments instead of parking light only), you can leave the dimmer switch in the centre position for starting.

You'll have no problem running a 35/35 halogen headlamp bulb; I've used one all season this year, although I do have an uprated rectifier

Follow the entire threads for all info therewith.

Hope this all helps you.

thanks again! ill try this tonight and let you know if this works. i think my handlebar switch is the one with only 2 states. i will also check on that tonight. so if im understanding this correctly e3steve
hook the black with the white collar together with brown and green. then just hook yellow and pink together so that is a complete curcuit? then that leaves me with the white wire going where? at work right now otherwise i would run out and check this. a little more info about my bike is that im not running a battery at all, im running the same combo as davomoto. using a computer capacitor and kick start only with a rectifier off of a cb350 (works well).
ill check this out tonight though
-cheers
