CB77 wanted
CB77 wantedIn the fall of 1974, a couple of days after my 16th birthday, I bought a very nice black 1966 CB77. I paid cash for the bike with money I saved from working the summer. I rode the bike everywhere as it was my only transportation. The following spring I moved to Illinois and took the bike with me. But IL would not grant me a motorcycle endorsement since motorcycle riders had to be at least 18 years old. I rode the bike for a summer in IL with my Wisconsin driver’s license and Wisconsin license plate. But when my license plate expired I had to park the bike.

I needed money for a car so I put the bike up for sale. A coworker wanted to test ride it. I rode the bike into work with the expired WI plate (and a brand-new IL drivers license with no motorcycle endorsement) so the coworker could ride it. He accidentally dropped the clutch at high revs, popped a wheelie, and then dropped the bike damaging one muffler, one lever and a host of little things (Tail light and turn signal lenses?). A couple of days later he left for active duty in the Marines and I never got a nickel from him for wrecking my beautiful SuperHawk.

I ended up giving the bike to my girlfriend who planned on fixing it up but that never happened, she moved and the bike was given away.

I’ve been looking for a SuperHawk since. A running bike that I could restore would be perfect, black color preferred
A basket case would be considered.

A loving home is promised and visitation rights for the former owner could be arraigned.
Re: CB77 wantedJohn, Great story! hope you have some luck finding one. have you watched E-Bay? Some turn up there once in awhile. This site has a for sale section too. Good Luck! Steve Greer
Re: CB77 wantedI saw your post about wanting a CB77...funny story, I bought a CB77 from a woman here in Illinois who was the second owner, she aquired it from someone from Wisconsin. She told me that SHE crashed it over 25 years ago and parked it, or at least I thought that's what she told me last year. It's black, and registered as a '67, not a '66. Coincidence, or your old bike??
Re: CB77 wanted
Re: CB77 wantedOK, probably not yours. This bike has the correct tank. The owner's name was Peggy. They dragged it out of the back of a garage where it had been sitting for many years. My 14-year-old had the carbs off to clean them, so he jumped it off a battery from another bike, sprayed some ether in the manifolds, and it fired right up! Not the way I would have done it, but he was thinking on his own, and came up with a way to see if it will run. Pretty good for his age.
Re: CB77 wanted

I have seen some bikes on EBay that looked interesting, but nothing that is either inexpesive enought to justify cross country shipping or close enough to go fetch it.

But I keep looking!
