ca72 top end what the #$%^&

Post by jim milewski » Thu Aug 21, 2008 7:57 am

new member here cool forum, and I need it........got the top end off of a 247cc 360 crank and each piston has three rings above the wrist pin, and the oil ring below the wrist pin huh? Someone must have seen this somewhere before, a first for me, is this only done for a certain year which I have no idea what year this is, my ring end gaps are about .020", looks like I need rings as well.
Anyway I need head and base gasket, valve cover gasket, exhaust donuts for the 250 engine, dealers are little or no help, any help will be much appreciated, there are probably other parts I will need as I start further dismantling. It appears the oil problem this engine had was in part if not all due to the O ring in the head surface of the feed to the overhead cam, ever seen this? The bike had 150 lbs compression.

You have a very early issue bike (frame and engine numbers please) and HONDA did install 4 rings per piston. HONDA changed to the 3 ring pistons as they found 4 weren't necessary. Were I you I'd change to the 3 ring pistons. I have the gasket sets for the 250 engines here. Get back by PM and I'll help. ..........lm
