New member from MissouriNew member from MissouriI am new to your forum, hello. I am currently building a 1974 650 yamaha but I came across a honda yesterday and tried to figure out what year it was. Well I have ended up here and I am sure you can help me. the VIN is CL 77 1024246 the # on the engine is the same. It was painted but the original color is a burnt orange color. What would be a fair price on what it woud take to restore this bike to running status. I know I know it depends on its condition. ok I will need to completely tear down the frame and motor and start over. I'm not talking about an all original, exact replica, I just mean a bike that looks good and is reliable and a machine I can cruise the gravel roads on and have fun on. I would like to think in the range of $1200-$1500. is this a fair guess. Remember it will need a motor rebuild, frame bead blasted, new rims,tires,cables,seat cushion controls, tail light different bars, and wire harness. It has been in a barn since 1974 that was damp and dirty. The motor does turn over though. If this is a 1968 model I might make it my next project since that is my birth year. This is what I remember spending on my '67.
Motor rebuild- 300 Refurbed seat and tank minus trashed tank I sent him- 500 Tires- 150 I repaired my rats nest wire harness (it can be done)- 15 Bead blast and rattle can paint frame- 50 Semi-professional paint side covers and fenders- 150 Chain- 35 Points, plugs- 30 Had to replace bent fron rim- 50 Looks like 1200 to 1500 is close not counting MY time and any other missing bits. I thought the original orang was from the later years...I could be wrong. Also I think it was rare to see EXACTLY the same frame and motor serial #'s. Good luck '67 CL77 (337, gears X'd)
'65 CB160 well I don't know a thing about these honda's. Im just telling you what I am finding on this bike. The # on the engine is nice and clear, the vin on the frame is hard to read, I don't think the stamp went in real deep, seems the more I rub on it to try to read it the more it fades away. But I am fairly certain it was the same. as far as the paint I can peel the red off in big hunks and the paint under that is orange. The tank,fenders shock tops, are orange and the side covers and tool carrier are chrome. kinda a neat little bike. This one has high bars kinda like mini apes, 12" or so but Im assuming those are add ons, maybe I should take a photo.

Oh I did get it, It was free ,he was going to fill the ditch with it next to his hay field. I took it with the intentions of puttin it on e bay if I decided not to fix it but as I was loading it up my buddy (the farmer I got it from) told me " what a piece of crap this will never run again its just junk" that to me was sort of a challenge to myself to get it looking and running like a champ. I appreciate the offer for help. I bet when you drive one of these up to a store or a bike shop they are sure to get alot of attention and comments. Im sure they also start alot of conversations with strangers
