305 Scrambler on Ebay today Monday 7/28/2008

Post by smi481 » Sun Jul 27, 2008 11:57 am

Good Afternoon -

Could you guys take a look at this 305, that
is currently on Ebay, and give me your opinion
before/or if I bid? (see below link)

The front fender sure sits high in front ....

Is there any other concerns, our forum
members, can detect?

Thanks alot for your help .....

Looks as if they're both aftermarket chrome fenders. The edges aren't even rolled down enough on both front/rear and the rear looks to be shorter. Probably from an early model. JMHO. I thought I was wrong once, but found out I was only mistaken.

Ebay 305

Post by smi481 » Sun Jul 27, 2008 1:02 pm

Sunday, 2:00 PM EDT

I just asked the seller about the front fender
angle and this was his response -

" .... it has never been off or damaged ..... thats how
Honda put it on."

With the fender so obviously crooked, that's
why I asked you guys to take a look at the
rest of the bike before we, or IF we, even bid.

Thanks everybody for your help.

That fender has apx. 1/2 inch cut from the front and that was after it hit something hard enough to raise the front and push the middle brace back. We even did that in the early 60's. The gas cap has been punched down into the top. Rear axle is installed reversed and so is the top muffler bolt. Bolts holding headlight bucket are graded heads. Several dings in the rotor cover by the foot brake lever. Rear tire looks to be a 300x19. Let us know his reply to these other items. ...............lm

I zoomed the pics up to 400% but the stator cover was somewhat distorted and at 200% it could have been reflections of some sort. Never could tell if the gas cap was compressed,as to me it was mostly an illusion with all the reflections etc. Head light bolts,........ just couldn't tell for certain, rear muffler bolt was definitely a no-no. The rear axel could go either way due to the tire change. That's a simple/easy fix if you're doing a concours. I just do riders and that's how I put my rear wheel back on as it's easier to me. I suppose I could turn it around. My 10000 miler has the same small tire, but I do have a set of trials universals I may change over to. With a little time and very little effort, I got my new aquisition running. Does real well. Just got a pair of Sudco carb kits. Cleaned the carbs, not too bad, a little junk in the bowls. Put a new throttle cable on, but of course, it's too long. A new, shorter is in the works. Repainting another tank as I didn't like the kream job ssomeone did. Bike is actually a 1965 according to the wiring harness tag while title says 1966. Repaining the fenders also from that god-awfull shade of light green they were done in. When done, I'll try to do the picture thingy. Charlie
Oh yes, how much does the new electronic ignitions go for now? Tried to pull the price up, but not happening. Thanks

$9,500+

Post by smi481 » Sun Jul 27, 2008 7:37 pm

Just found that the seller hopes to get bids of at least $9,500+ for the bike
before he removes the Reserve holding it now.
