As a newbie, I am learning about model numbers, engine sizes, etc.

Is there a source that would describe all the models and years and the differences? I have been to numerous websites and got quite a bit of info, but I still feel like I am only scratching the surface and missing something.

You may be making it more complicated than it is.

This site being primarily concerned with 305's the 3 models that utilized this engine are the CA77 (the Dream), the CB77 (the Superhawk) and the CL77 (the Scrambler).

Each of these had a little brother with a 250 engine: the CA72, CB72 and CL72.

Those are the basics.

Thanks for the info. That does help.
I have seen smaller cc bikes as well and realize they may not apply to this site such as the Benley?

I'm a Newbie as well & was trying to figure out the same thing, thanks for the info.
Another question, are all 305 engines the same? Can I swap parts?
Mine is a CA78 on the frame and CA77 on the engine.....what's the difference between a CA77 & CA78?????
I'll try to get all the dumb questions out of the way ASAP.
Thanks, Mark

They are not. There are 180 degree 305 engines and 360 degree 305 engines, 305's with one carb and 305's with 2 carbs. I know the basics on the differences but someone else would be best to explain the detail.

CA77's(CA78) are 360 cranks with one carb, I do not remember why Honda put the CA78 on the frame of the CA77's-CB's and CL's are the 180 cranks and two carbs
