CL 77 headlamp/sealbeam

Post by abert51 » Tue Jun 03, 2008 1:03 pm

where can one find a source for the weird size headlamp for 67 CL77. It is not like the Brits standard 7" sealbeam. It is smaller - maybe 6 inch?? Any suggestions appreciated. Thank you. AL

Al does yours have the aiming screw in the chrome ring? I just picked upa 67 CL, and it has that set-up no sure if it's origional. There are several aftermarket sealed beams available on ebay. The Type with the aiming screw are the same as CB350 headlights, and are available cheap on ebay as well.

Gents,

I just took a chance and ordered the 6 3/8" (162mm) size that candlepowerinc.com has now, for my CL77, and it comes with a 12V 60/55W bulb. This is a newer size for them, intended for those of us with old motorcycles. Sweet. I was getting tired of trying to find CL headlights.

These are sealed beam-sized lights that you put a replaceable H4 halogen light into, so you'll need to make an adapter harness. They also have 7" and 5 3/4".

I also ordered a lower power version of the H4, 12V 35/35W, in case my CL can't handle the 60/55W.

Candlepower

Let us know if it mounts right in the headlight ring. I have a '65 CL I might be interested in getting one for.

OK -- I've received the headlight unit from Candlepower. It does fit into the CL headlight ring -- it does *not* fit quite as good as the original, but will work. A sloppy fit. Also, I will probably have to get the Dremel and cut off one of the supplied tabs on the unit, as they will interfere when mounting the ring into the shell. This is Candlepower's 6 3/8" size.

I have no idea how/if this would work on the later version CL/CB headlight with adjusters.

The lens of the light unit doesn't bow out like the original, so will look a little different.

Overall, I like it, as I can now use regular H4 bulbs.
