TIRE QUESTION, accepted sizes

Look at the maxxis classic. look at using two front tires. 90/90-19, 100/90-19 $53 each

my CL came with the 3.50/19 Speedmaster on front and a Pirelli 3.50/19 semi-knobby on the back.

Yup, been checking all around, and it's either Cheng Shin or Avon if I want a real 19" rear.

Cheng Shins are cheap, but they are getting out of street tires, and Avons are good but spendy.

I really like the look of the Maxxis Classics (modern without being too futuristic looking), but they don't recommend using a front tire on the rear -- I wonder if it would really matter on a small bike like this. I'd have to do this if I went with the Bridgestone S11s, too. Hmmm...

Hey all,

After all the research, I think I gonna go with the Avon Roadrider tires, made for general purpose commuting uses on mid-size bikes. Spendier than Cheng Shins, but way less than Metzlers. It's a more modern looking tire, but I want to do some summer commuting with this bike, so I want an updated performer.

They don't have a vintage look, but they shouldn't take away from the good looks of the bike.

Anyone tried these on a CL or CB?

Yes, I have them on my CB77 cafe' bike. My only complaint is that they are heavy. Other than that they ride and handle really well.

Heavy? One would think then that the bike would be more stable, but does that make the bike feel more ponderous in the turns, or ?

Yes, more stable, and a bit heavier in the turns. These bike are short and quick handling, so it's not such a bad thing!
