WTB a CB160

Post by Gun » Tue May 27, 2008 2:50 pm

Now that I'm nearing completion on my CB77, I'd like to buy a CB160 for my for girlfriend.
She's taken an unexpected interest in restoring my motorcycle with me, and I think it would be great for the two of us to have our own bikes to maintenance and ride.

Running would be a plus, but as long as the engine isn't stuck, I'd be happy to work towards a restore for next summer.

unless it was in ready to drive condition, I wouldn't want to spend more than $1000. I'd prefer a 4-5 hundred bike that needs a bit of work.

If you have any leads, please let me know! thanks!

Found one on ebay, listed as a parts bike, and located about 20 miles away!
Said that the engine turns over with good compression. but needs a few things to run.
definitely restorable.
Going to go take a look at it later today.

Purchased it.

got a list of things I'll need for it.
Much of which i'm sure i'll eventually find on EBay, but if you guys know any dealers that sell any of this, by all means, let me know

throttle cable
rear brake cable
front brake shoes
rear brake shoes
ignition coil
air box/filters
toolbox
foot peg cover for the clutch side
tires (i'll just pick up some cheng shins i'd imagine)
I don't see the actual ignition :p but spose i can kickstart.
keys, for the future ignition
baffels
chain
battery

That's all I can think of right now.

anywho. wish me luck!

the guy also has a dream, missing carbs, in need of new seat. Selling it for the 500 he got it for 15 years ago.

pictures on the way, tonight!
I might be able to get a picture of that dream he's selling if THAT'S what you're interested in, haha.

Wish i knew a bit more about bikes, doing these restores the proper way would probably be a lot better than the "Crosby way".
in my home town our last name is synonmous with 'macgyver'.
