Check the coil wire ends. (cut 1/4 inch off and install) Make sure the points are set corectly for that side. (your carb condition is in direct proportion to the miss adjustment of the points)
That's an Old Sage from many years of miss reading engine running problems. ............lm[

quote="knuckleduster13"]thanks very much, tried moving the needle up a notch, and tried to correct the contact points
will check the manifolds for leaks as well. I turned back the two full turns to one and a half to see if it gets better
cheers

kd, if both carbs are l/h, then the slides' cutaways should still face the filters to allow the mixture to stand a chance of being near correct, therefore the slides MUST be identical. I can't comment on how the motor will run with two lefties - probably a lot better than either of us on two left feet! - but there is a pair on eBay that I'm watching right now http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayI ... 57106&rd=1
If you want them, I'll back off (let me know your eBay pseudonym). I don't need them; I'm just building a set of spare parts for the hell of it!

On a matched pair, the slides' locating pegs are, I believe, inboard; therefore on a pair of l/h the pegs will both be on the same (r/h, sat astride) side. In this case the slides should be identical and not, as I previously stated, mirror imaged. Only in a matched pair will they be mirrored.

Hope this helps. Regards,

Steve
