CB72 questions

Hello-
I'm possibly going to buy a CB72.
I had a few questions I was hoping someone could answer first.

- I haven't seen the bike in person...yet. But based on the photos, the engine SN is CB77 - 315xxxx. Is that correct that it would be stamped CB77 and not CB72?
- The frame number looks to be CB72 - XXXXX. But at the end of the SN is the number "99" in a different font. See my photo. This seems odd. Anyone know what it means?
- Lastly is a CB72 a good bike to invest some time and money? Or is it a bike no one really cares about? ie. somewhere down the road I decide to get rid of it and no one will be interested because its not a CB77.

The engine number tells me that you have a 1964 CB77 (305) engine in your (probably) 1960 CB72 frame. It's an easy swap which someone has done. As far as I know the frames are identical. As for the "99", I have no idea. Why not try asking Bill Silver (https://www.mrhonda.guru/) about your bike? He's happy to answer questions.

The CB72s are fairly rare because, at least in North America they were marginally cheaper than the CB77s and, unless you wanted to race in the 250 cc class you would probably just prefer the larger engine. If I had a CB72 I would be quite happy simply because they are so unusual.
