16 volts with silenium rectifier - too much?
Re: 16 volts with silenium rectifier - too much?Lead - Acid batteries have been with us since 1869 and have been improved over the years. They are remarkably robust and will take quite a bit of abuse although looking after them will give much longer life; I sold my 2005 Corolla in 2017 (350,000 km) and it still had the original battery. I just got my CB77 on the road in October and haven't ridden it much. My recollection of riding it back in the 60s to 80s is that I had to replace the battery every few years and that's with the batteries of the time. It's too bad that they didn't come with regulators or even Zener diodes like the British bikes did. I'm curious to see how long the new one in it lasts.
Re: 16 volts with silenium rectifier - too much?Yep - Mine last a couple of years. I'll be installing a regulator soon. I hope that helps! Happy riding!

Re: 16 volts with silenium rectifier - too much?Even though the newer variants such as the gel batteries are supposed to be maintenance free they still need to be vented. I had one, a MotoBat, that expanded enough that getting it out of the bike was difficult. Evidently the little vent, wherever it is, was blocked and pressure built up. You might want to check your battery often, at least at the beginning.
