I'm sorry but I have no knowledge of this modification on anything but the CB72/77. It should be possible to do but I don't know whether you would want to.

Tim, thanks for your reply, yes it is possible on both the CB77 and CA 77.
I have confirmed by multiple accounts there is a distinct advantage to do this on a CB77, but have not confirmed there is an advantage to perform this on a CA77.
Probably those that know are pretty old now and may not visit forums, those that are young and know may also not go onto forums but social media groups instead.

To answer your question, you need to make a table for your CA of the standard and crossed ratios like the one Tim Alman included in his post. Then look at the ratio gaps when shifting. As you have heard from others, for me it was a BIG improvement for my CB77.

I liked the fact both second and third gears were lowered. It became more comfortable to shift from 1-2. With standard gearing, a downshift from 4-3 while climbing left me still overheated since 3 and 4 were do close.

If you can tell us the tooth count on all 8 of your gears I’d be happy to make such a table for your CA. I already have the spreadsheet set up.
