Hi
I rebuilt my 305 about 5 years ago. I put in new clutch plates but the clutch has not worked properly.
I know there is a solution to solve this. Can someone help me. I recently fixed the starter and new battery with rectifier also upgraded the head and taillights to LED.
The clutch slips cold or hot and I run only Honda oil. I believe I read about a kit that Ed had developed for slipping and the adjustment procedure.
Thanks in advance.
1963 Honda Dream clutch slipping
Re: 1963 Honda Dream clutch slippingThere's no reason why the original clutch shouldn't work properly.
If a clutch slips, it's either : - incorrect assembly (wrong number of discs or incorrect stacking etc....) - incorrect adjustment (insufficient clearance, etc.) - poor quality parts - damaged or worn parts (the clutch shaft doesn't slide properly, the springs aren't too weak, etc.).
Re: 1963 Honda Dream clutch slippingThere's one other possibility for a slipping clutch that I can think of: the motor oil. Oils formulated to reduce fuel consumption in cars may cause slippage in wet clutches such as this one. While it used to be reasonable to choose a good oil that was intended for cars and trucks, these days you should be using one intended for motorcycles.
