Photo Upload Testing
Photo Upload TestingFolks, I am testing the Attachments feature and will be trying for the best combination of Display size vs File size. The huge photo files were a large part (NPI) of the server overload problems of the past.
I think we now have the software in place which will take any size photo (from the smartphone and the like) and automatically reduce the storage footprint and the post display (so it doesn't make your browser window extend off the screen and out the door). I'd like to find the width that looks good in the forum posts and on your screens, and it looks like it's going to be right around 800 pixels wide (the current setting). Please post some attachments and let me know how they look on your end. The width can go up to maybe 1000 px, and we may try that setting at some point. Cheers, Michael Stoic PS I am available for private flogging sessions in PM (I think it should be working). Not quite ready for the pillory in town centre.
Re: Photo Upload TestingReally good to have you back Michael. You can see by the posts, things are really picking up again.
Thanks.

Re: Photo Upload TestingI selected a pic and inserted it to my reply and got nothing. will try again. Rusty
Finally got this one to stick but had to resize to 800x450 in paint. Flicker may be a better resort as G man suggests. Rusty

Great to have you back! I use Flickr for all of my photos. I find it works really well, using their 'share BBcode' option...... IMG_6024 by Graham Curtis, on Flickr G

Re: Photo Upload TestingGreetings Mr. Michael ! Thanks for this great forum. I found so much great info in past posts while getting this baby going again. Here's my honey I bought from the side of the road last May. All the best !
J Hmm, seems the pic I took with the iPad is too big. The message says 512KiB is the max. [img][/img] Re: Photo Upload Testingfrom my pc files...my sizes 820x615 (293K) and 1024x768 (436K)...both look fine
looks like the forum re-sizes them automatically And thanks for your help rescuing the forum!

Re: Photo Upload TestingI will try this again with my original pic size 2400x1450
It did resize and stuck to the post at least. Thank you Michael for fixing this great forum. Rusty
