grandpas bike

Post by cloudstrife » Mon May 23, 2005 10:31 pm

Hi, I recently found my grandpa's old CB77 in a building at the family farmplace. I intend to do a complete restoration. Can anyone tell me the age of the bike and where to find parts and/or parts bike? Is it odd to have matching numbers on the frame and engine? Bike has chrome fenders and side covers. It has been parked there since '75 and is froze. Any advice on getting it loose?

Frame #: CB77-1036840

Engine #: CB77-1036840

cloudstrife, Welcome to our forum, and congrats on your plans to restore your grandpa's bike. Look around on this site and you will find an item titled "carbon dating" It should answer your questions about mdl. yr. Another way is to look for the wiring build tag on the main harness that runs under the tank(you'll need to remove the tank) This method may not be accurate I'm told. All I can say is it is right on both my cb77s. I have used regular engine oil in my cylinders(remove spark plugs) let it soak 'bout a week and gently push the kick starter. That has worked for me in the past. Others have varing ways to un stick one,all good but if it just refuses to loosen up you ,may have to remove the engine and make a trip to the engine rebuild shop! Good luck, Steve Greer

Thanks, I got the engine unfroze today and my grandma found the title. It is a 1967.
