Need ID on Vin#Need ID on Vin#What year is this vin numberfor... Frame#, CL77-1003627 Engine#, CL77E-1003671. Thanks.
Answer to my own question.Low vin shouts 1965, the first year......... I assume....
Does that add to value, being a low vin#? Re: Answer to my own question. There is a white tag on the wiring harness under the tank. This records the date of manufacture of the harness but shoulsd get you close. 1965 sounds about right.
Your number isn't particularly low. They're all unique...... Matching engine & frame numbers are rare and low numbers (zeroes followed by one or two digits) might be of interest to someone. G

Unfortunately there wasn't one on mine....I believe a low Vin# means the same as a fine art lithograph. The first printings are more desirable and are more crisp and sharp than later printings. Tooling to manufacture the bikes would be same. More usage and wear and tear on tooling makes a difference... Just Sayin'
You're sort of right, but with motorcycles tooling changes didn't necesarily happen with model number changes.
The basic tooling for the engine of the CL77 dates back to 1960 with the Dream C72 and the frame was first introduced in 1962 with the CL72. Yes, when a new sequence started the number stamps were refreshed but that maybe all. I have a 1964 CB77 frame number 100061 but don't value it above my 1961 CB72 frame number 10969 G
