Given your other battery post, that would be the first thing I'd check - the health of the battery. Others with more knowledge will be able to confirm, but I thought the simple charging circuit on the Dream was pretty robust and dependable - something batteries aren't.

I did replace the regulator on mine with the Charlie's unit, just for peace of mind.
Thanks.

Regards

Battery

First check battery condition. Next check battery voltage engine off. Then check battery voltage when running about 2000rpm. Should see at least 13VDC. If not find the three wires that run from the alternator up to the rectifier (they exit the top of case on the right side adjacent to the carb.). Unplug these three wires and check for AC voltaqge between these three wires at about 2000rpn. You need to see around 30VAC - if not the stator is not working.

Not charging

Worth checking the condition of the main earth connections too, the big one on the rear upper engine mount, also, check that the rectifier itself is grounded properly, loose nuts or too much paint will stop the full charge being achieved.
It's worth running an extra earth wire from the rectifier fixings to the main earth terminal on the battery can only help.
