questions on Final Drive chain CL77

Post by bulterier » Wed Oct 12, 2011 7:28 pm

I just received a new "gold" colored chain (530) for my 1967 Honda Cl77.
It is what is called an "O ring " Chain.
Looks nice, but to my surprise, it has an extra link on each outer side making it much wider than the stock chain.
Will this work with the stock sprockets front and rear? Will it interfere/hit with the chain guard?
Whats the purpose?

This chain, along with the narrow vs wide spline on the front countershaft sprocket is driving me crazy!

Thanx in advance for any advice.

**Where is a good place to buy a non O Ring 530 chain for these CL77's?

It will rub the cases in the countershaft sprocket area! You'll nee to run a non o-ring chain. That's with a 15 tooth sprocket. You might get away with it with a 14.

Thats all the info I need!

Dont need the stress of the chain hitting my aluminum castings much less my chain guard!

I'm returning the chain!

Thanx DavoMoto!

By the way, I am including a pic on the progress of my CL77.
