connecting rod sleeves?
connecting rod sleeves? The small ends of my connecting rods have just enough play in them with a new wrist pin installed that something needs to be done.
I have read posts about Honda having made oversize wrist pins but I was wondering if anyone has successfully bored and sleeved the small end of the rod to accept a standard pin again? FS. Not a lot of metal for sleevng the rod. Oversized sleeves are available still.

I see that David Silver has them available here in the states. I was just curious if anyone has attempted sleeving the rods.
And with the wiseco pistons I decided to go with the Honda pins would need to be shortened....... Thanks for the reply G man I will keep the post updated when my machine shop let's me know what they can do! FS
Soooo..... The machine shop said it wouldn't be a problem to shorten the Honda wrist pins to fit the wiseco pistons and bore the pistons for the oversize pins.
But they won't bore the rods. I know I've seen posts about people doing it with a straight flute reamer?? Does anyone have any input on how difficult it would be to do that way myself?[/list] The problem is getting the reamer to run perpendicular to the rod. Ideally you would dismantle the crank and ream the rods on a vertical miller.
Making a tool that used one rod as a guide for the the other might work. I have some rods to do and I was thinking of making a tool using a scrap cylinder barrel as a guide. I've not worked out the detail yet..... G '60 C77 '60 C72 '62 C72 Dream '63 CL72
