CB77 Tail Light

Post by Steve P. » Fri Feb 26, 2016 6:06 pm

Hello, I have a pristine 1967 CB77 with only 1000 miles on it. My battery is good and it runs nice.
My tail light brake like works fine, however, my taillight running light won't light up.
The bulb is fine, all other electrical is fine.
Can anyone please give me suggestions.
Thanks much
Steve P

Steve - Check for 12V at the socket. If none or low, trace the white wire back to its bullet connector. Clean it and check for 12V there. Other than that, could be a break in the white wire somewhere. Sounds like the contacts in your ignition switch are OK if the headlight is working. PM me if you need the wiring diagram.

Steve, Try placing a jumper wire between the HL (green wire) and TL (white wire) terminals on your ignition switch. If that restores the tail light function, the ignition switch is the culprit. You may also leave the connection bridged permanently if you don't plan to use the park light feature (third position on the ign. switch), instead of replacing it. I did that once on another bike with the same problem. Hope this helps.
