There are some differences. I think the top plate is different, not a problem to switch, and the rest of the mounting is the same, BUT- the main differences are internal. 360 (dream) vs 180 crankshaft, different dome on the pistons, I'm not sure if the dream piston will clear the head (different compression chambers in the heads.) Also different cams due in part to the different crankshafts.

thank you for your info this is where things get a bit different for mine,I bought a used crank on ebay once I got it and got my motor apart i noticed a few things that were different on mine , mine runs single point and the crank I pulled out has both the piston go up at the same time not like other CB I have read on . this bike came from Japan not and export model , a service member bought it knew and was the only owner he brought it to the states would that make a big deference in what motor I have

You do have the same crankshaft, there were some CB's with the 360 crank. I'm not familiar with the internals on them. Pistons and combustion chambers may be different, the difference in the piston dome would be obvious.

Yes I do have the 360 crank where both piston come up at the same time, I’m hoping to pull the top have apart he soon I just want to read up a little about how to set the timing marks before I pull it apart and if things match up maybe I’ll get lucky and get her back on the road again

I was looking at some of my posting from before I found this one that Mike reply back with (I have swapped engines several times between different years production. There is no problem as far as that goes. Externally they are all the same, and as I recall any internal changes are minor, and most internals are common to all.)
