CHECK OUT THIS BIKE FOR CORRECTNESS "CL77 HONDA"

Post by LOUD MOUSE » Mon Dec 12, 2011 10:53 am

Tis been a while since I've offered a challenge to the members who know these bikes.
This CL77 has visible defects as parts are concerned.
Use the description as ya look it over.
Ya can consider the asking price also.
Check it out and tell us what ya see.........lm

I'll give this challenge a shot. Here's what I think is wrong.

Fenders should be chrome
Brake levers should be non-rib type with black rubber caps on the ends.
Starter coverplate should be plated, not painted black
Exhaust has correct heat shields, but muffler has been cut off.
Tank should not be clear coated
Plug wires are no original, nor are the plug caps. Wires should also be run thru the guides, which are there.
Points wire is in woven metal fabric tube. Should be in white, high temp glass fabric tubing.
Handlebar clamp and top tree are polished and they should be painted.
Hubs and brake plates should be satin/brushed finish with clear coat, and not high polish.
Valve caps should be satin, not polished.
Kick start look either bent or wrong.
Butt-ugly weld repair on front fender brace.
Repop tank badges.

How'd I do??

regards,
Rob

+ front fork boot clamps missing, should have chromed bolts and flat washers attaching the grab bar to the rear fender.

Among other things, Kick start indexed wrong, broken spoke, brake stay tab not peened over, water in the headlight, wrong headlight mounting screw, nice bike, just misrepresented..........................D Oh yeah, It's a 66

Here's my shot:
Lever perches correct - cables wrong
Tank bolt put in backwards
Wrong screws to fasten headlight rim - should be oval heads
Left switch assembly missing one harness band on handlebar, wires routed incorrectly
Black cable tie used to secure rear tail light wires to rear fender brace
Fuel lines look pretty big!
Incorrect rear foot pegs
Rear axle inserted backwards
There shouldn't be a flat washer where the rear fender brace is attached to the fender
Painted fender are correct for this serial number
Cylinder head sealing washers don't look like they are copper

I'm Impressed!
Ya are seeing most of the faults.
I am pleased to see statements which disagree with others as some are correct.
Keep up the answers and I'll do a final in a day or so. ......lm
