I have put new wires on an old coil before. I don't think I have done it on a CA coil though so not sure any of the info below applies.

Would I suggest it? Not really but here is the info.

Replace coil wires

Post by conbs » Wed Oct 07, 2015 1:02 pm

If I understand what you have, there is an epoxy dab on the coil case for each wire. If you remove the epoxy you will find little shards of bamboo holding the plug wires in. Once the bamboo is removed, the plug wires can be replaced. If you don't break them, the bamboo can be re-used and new epoxy applied.

Nice to have you back and to hear the voice of experience.

Also good to know that we have some 'engineering bamboo' in our bikes..... :-)

G,

Soichiro would have used nothing but the highest grade bamboo, don't you think?

Yes, indeed. I wonder if the deal was like Henry Ford's use of Model T radiator packing crate material for the floors of the Model T?

Recycled chopsticks from the works canteen perhaps?
