Thank you, both. But I'm confused... So, my clutch rod seal is fine. The grease in crankcase was from the grease on the cover side?
Do you know what type of grease to use when I put them back together? Where do I apply?

Also, thanks for letting me know about the lines on gears! I just ordered kick starter gear yesterday. I should be putting them all back next weekend.

This area is typically dirty because of lubricant and dirt expelled from the chain as well as excess grease etc.

The two shafts need some grease. I don't know why only one of them has a fitting. Also, there should be some inside the clutch adjuster to lubricate the ball bearing and clutch rod. Et c'est tout!

Hi Ed,
Do you guide this "Y"-breather tube above or below the toolbox on a CL77?
And then inbetween the air filter and frame or... ?

HONDA designed this breather? system to go to a plastic "Y" then a single to go to the front of the right side air cleaner. ...............lm

Thought I had sorted it when I found that both cylinders had a nipple in them which appears to lead up into the inlet tracts near the valves.
Thinking this was a balance pipe between the two inlet tracts I have coupled them up.
Not road tested yet but she fired up ok. So where does that leave me.
I did wonder if they had a dual function. For attaching a manometer to balance the carbs and to smooth the inlet pulses when running but what do I know.
Not much.

Thanks for the info.
Now the small metal tube on my old dirty right filter makes sense.

My NOS filter doesn't have this tube so might as well guide it down between the engine and frame.
