Yes on the inserts. LM mentioned them a while back. To be honest, I've never had any problems with helicoils and I forgot the name of the other product.

Graham eBay seller 'Megapacks' used to sell M5 JIS in various lengths and head styles, I just looked and they do not have any listed at present but it might be worth contacting them. I may still have some.

I have a ton of his stuff but no raised countersunk JIS M5. I thought I had but they are regular ISO.

The postman delivered my M5 helicoil kit and some polyester braided sleeve for re-working the points cable. I got some fibreglass sleeve in the white but could not get the smaller yellow and green.

With the holes re-drilled and tapped, the helicoil which is just a coil of diamond-section wire just screws in. The result is much more durable than the original and is standard issue for aluminum aircraft parts. My points plate is now able to use standard M5 x0.8 screws to remove one of the irritations of these early engines.

This points plate cleaned up nicely but I need to work on re-working the damaged wiring which was chopped off short.

Although I have deviated from originality on this detail I am just happy to be able to use standard fasteners. The bag of 100 screws I got for £15 will last me for ever.

I've been away for a couple of weeks so it was nice to get back home and find this little part had arrived. It appears that Honda redesigned the condenser assembly several times, mainly in they way they handled the connection to the coils. According to CMS parts lists, this version was discontinued three numbers before my bike was made but but it looks just like the one that I took off. This one is a bit shinier, too!

Alan Curtis has had some of the early air-filter hose clamps made and he got me a set done, too. Thanks Alan.

The Stafford Classic bike show is next week so I will be meeting up with some good freinds and swapping stories and the odd part.

Do you have a source for coil LT boots the same as shown on your picture of the condenser Graham, I think Clauss Studios do a replica but I was hoping to get a cheaper version from the UK.

The closest I could get is the starter cable boot 32411-230-000 from David Silver.

It's rather loose on the coil cable. I just discovered the Clauss Studio version and it looks really nice so I have ordered enough to do 4 bikes......

For the 1961 bike it's got to be right.. :-)
