CB77 Air Filter Covers; Attachment to Tool Box
CB77 Air Filter Covers; Attachment to Tool BoxDidn't see anything in a search, so I am seeking a little help.
Just went for a 50 mile ride ride today and when I got back home, I noticed that the knob on the right side Air Filter Cover was missing. After removing the cover, I saw that the nut had been broken right off of the tool box. This is the 2nd tool box that I have installed and the same thing has happened. When I look on-line (eBay, etc.) it seems that this is not just my issue. Most of the tool boxes are either missing one or both nuts or they are in the process of being ripped off. To me, this is a design flaw, but I am looking to you fine folks for a solution. Perhaps someone has thought of a clever was to attach the Air Filter Covers in some other way. Thanks for any help you can offer. Regards, Kevin. _________________

That turned section is for the 6mm nut to spin on and stop you loosing the knob. The nut goes between the inside cover and the small bracket that's welded to it. Hope that helps. Al.
Thanks Al.
Yes, I see that. I am looking more for a solution for how to stop the nut, welded to the tool box, from being bent and broken off of the tool box by the force of the side panel knob attached to it. For the time being, I have just wired the right side Air Filter Cover so it won't fly off. I was just wondering if anybody else has this problem and, if so, what have been the solutions? Thanks! _________________

As the threaded part is spot welced to the tool box I BRAZE the entire outer edge of the threaded part to the tool box. .......................lm
Thanks, lm... I have just purchased another tool box and will do this.
I thought that, maybe, a thin strip of steel could also be inserted into the tool and welded on the side where the brackets are attached. Do you have any idea where I can purchase the knobs for the air filter covers? I see some on eBay, but they are from overseas... not sure of the quality ! Thanks very much! _________________

Durn.
I just delivered 2 CB77's and don't have any knobs left. A strip inside sure can't hurt. .............lm
