Every time I read about someone having difficulty disassembling front forks, I recall how frustrated I became performing that task until I made this great little tool. It's easy and inexpensive, and you'll wonder how you ever got along without it. Start with 14" of 1/2" square steel bar stock. Cut off 6" for the handle and bend the other piece into a U shape, allowing 2.5" between the legs and an inside depth of 2.25". Weld on the handle and drill and tap 2 holes for 8mm x 30mm Allen screws. Grind down the Allen screws to a blunt point that will fit into the holes on the chrome seal holders. Put the axle hole at the bottom of the fork in a vise, attach your tool and you are ready to go.
