fuel tank knee pads

I have a pair knee pads for a '66 305 scrambler fuel tank that are in very good condition EXCEPT that the black on them has gotten almost gone.
I would appriciate it if anyone can tell me how to restore the black finish on them so that they would look a lot better

I would start with a thoruogh scrubbing with simple green and maybe some rubber cleaner may help get the dirt out. Soak them for a few days with aumor all and see how they come out. Repros arnt terribly expensive.

Scrub the rubber with hot soapy water (don't use the water from Flint). Dry them and rub on shoe polish. Let the polish dry for a matte finish or buff them for a shine.

Have you tried Mothers Back-To-Black? I think it works quite well and it's available everywhere.

Comon Now.....That is probably the only thing the water might be useful for is cleaning....TIC

Thank you all for your input.I now have several options to use. I think I'll start with the shoe polish first.Let you all know how everything turns out.
