softer clutch
softer clutchCan I install a softer clutch on a 1967 305 scrambler? I have Carpal tunnel in my left wrist; so I can only handle approx. 20 minutes of shifting my CL77. Any advice on this subject? Thanks, William in Minneapolis.
Re: softer clutchSome of the older 305's had weaker springs, but that went along with clutch slippage problems. I was having problems with my 67 scrambler clutch getting hard. check your cable routing, the larger the radius on the bends the better, lube the cable and it can make a huge difference. 63 CA78

I think you guys are misdiagnosing your patient. His chief complaint is carpal tunnel syndrome not sqeaky cable disease. He doesn't need oil/rerouting of his cables, he needs assisted leverage to aid in his disability. Sure oil your cables, but these easy pull systems really work. I knew a gal with arthritis who kept riding after she installed these easy pull levers.
