Its not totally uncommon for the starter to need a little attention. If you find that you do have power to the starter when you hit the start button you will know if you have a problem with the starter. You might have to take the starter apart and clean things up and check out the brushes.

Hi,

Just connect the battery direct (-) to the frame, and the (+) to the isolated bolt on the starter motor. If it turns, the starter motor is ok, if not it could be anything but the starter (wiring issue) or bad contacts within the starter solenoid.
