I cleaned the red round lens with a q-tip and a little water..I still cant see the red color come though, even when held up to a light sorce. Is this normal? or do I need to replace the red dot with something?Baffled..... also does anyone know how to reset the speedo back to 000000? I wrote down original mileage. and in the process of restoring everything that the bike needs to be like new. it is a 1966 model Dream.thanks Mike
Red hig beamYou might try some red alcohol ink. You can find it in a bottle at a craft store. It is like the ink in a red Sharpie (which I guess you could also use though I have not tried it). You might need to give it several applications. I did that with a neutral light lens and it turned a nice red.
I saw a speedo rebuild thread on this site once where the guy used a small piece of red plastic but, it looked to me like the thickness of it created some fitment issues when he put it back together. You might be able to get a piece of red gel like is used in stage lights. It is very thin and will come in several shades of red. All that lighting is going to LED's so, I don't know how easy it will be to find. Let us know how you solve this problem.
