Crankcase surprises !Crankcase surprises !With the engine upside down I took the bottom case off.
Found two surprises - This flat washer about 0.8mm thick. And this homemade spacer boosting the knock pin up almost 3mm. Can't figure out why someone would do that. Any ideas?
Weird - the washer would would be holdig the cases apart. Did you have any leaks from there? It probably just got there by accident...
As for the spacer under the knock pin. No idea....... G '60 C77 '60 C72 '62 C72 Dream '63 CL72

The term 'knock up pin', would that be the pin that locates & prevent the bearings from rotating?
If so, one of mine just about disappeared in the hole as I fitted it, the PO must have had the bearing out of place when the cases were tightened & the pressure punched it through the casting, so the hole was now a lot deeper. I cleaned it up & used JP Weld to affect a very good repair. Double check the area to see if yours is the same. GSX1400 Red/silver
