Is there a way to check the timing of the cam shaft without pulling the engine apart? For example, to determine if the cam chain has slipped a tooth?
Searching the forums it appears that the slash mark on the points cam should be parallel with the cylinder bore when the T mark on the generator rotor is aligned with the pointer - correct?
Thanks!
Check cam timing?
Never seen/found a cam chain that jumped in all the years I've worked on these engines. (even the engine with the exploded cam chain guide roller)
I have found them installed incorrectly and could see the engine hadn't been run. .................lm
