While waiting for a swing arm to arrive, I thought I would finally get into the engine.
Please bear with me as I have never seen the inside of a 305 engine before.
Some one was in the engine before so I don't trust anything I find.
Cylinder head cover is off.
The two oil holes in the 2 gaskets and plate were at the front. Correct?
If I turn the engine so the "T" is lined up and the "O" on the cam sprocket is up, then the line on the end of the points cam is up. The engine is about to start the intake down stroke, i.e. one revolution away from where you adjust the valves.
Is that right?
I have been doing searches about that large castellated nut. Is it screwed onto the sprocket or the right camshaft?
Also, I have read that it is left hand thread and right hand thread ???
