Fork tubes

Post by modelman » Sun Jul 26, 2015 6:50 am

Gentlemen, although I took dozens of pics of the stripdown, I need your expertise as to the re-assembly of the fork-tubes.
The upper & lower right-side tubes were dented & split, as was the chrome seal housing, so I have re-shaped, resprayed & re-chromed them, BUT, upon reassembly, I find the lower tube doesn't seem to have any positive location to the stem, its only the square cut-out in the tube that stops it dropping down, or am I missing something??
The assembly is together but not tightened yet & it has wedges in the stem-slots to allow up & down adjustment.
Could you tell me the order of assembly please.
I have also made new steel shrouds for the rear units as the plastic ones were split & miss-shaped.
Thanks.
