Yes, a copper gasket should work. If the pistons and head have been closely matched you may need to be careful of teh clearance if the copper gasket is thinner.

Just measured the existing one and it comes out between 1.50 and 1.60mm. seems very thick.

I'll order a sheet of 1.50mm copper as it has no squash.

Hi...That maybe a little thin for my needs. This engine seems to have been messed with a bit and the squish may have been allowed for. If I install a thinner gasket I may run into problems.

Dennis Murfin told me that he set his squish clearance by assembling the head without gasket, then made sure the engine "just" turned over. Then With the gasket in place you should have a bit of allowance for rod stretch when it is running at high speed.

Looks pretty standard to me, other than the gear change mechanism. Any thoughts please?
