Scrambler Pipe Fitment Question

Post by Steverino » Sat Jan 10, 2015 4:09 am

I am just about done refurbishing Jimmy's Scrambler. Here is a pic. I have for now, installed genuine Honda exhaust gaskets. The problem is, the rear mount bracket on the pipes is too far forward to thread the bolt into the receiver on the frame. The miss match is just about the thickness of those gaskets. I know if I took them out that rear mount would line up fine. But I've got to have those gaskets to prevent exhaust leaks and to do the job right. I am wondering if someone bolted the pipes up without the gaskets and bent the pipes?

Have you checked that there is only one gasket in each port. They get squashed, covered in carbon and get forgotten. Have a probe in each port to see if there is anything in there.

How much misalignment have you got?

A strong eighth of an inch. That's a great idea. I will pull the pipes and double check. Thanks G Man.
