ca77 exhaust sagaca77 exhaust sagaGetting close to finishing rebuilding my ca77 and bought a new pair of exhaust pipes and a new pair of silencers.
Although one of the pipes has a L stamped on it there didn't seem to be any difference between them. Fitted the right hand pipe no problem. Fitted the left hand pipe, seems ok, but hang on its rubbing on the bottom of the chaincase. mmmm I will put a small dent in the pipe to relieve it. it cant be seen anyway. Make sure I don't damage the pipe I heat it up to cherry red and squash it in the vice with a socket to make a nice clean dent. Its still rubbing. repeat the process. It rubbing somewhere else now. have another go putting another dent in a different place. Still rubbing. Have several more goes. Its squashed so much now its choking the pipe down. I know cut the pipe and bend it down away from the case then I have to cut it further back to bend it back up again. It looks like a dog breakfast now. Fit the silencer. Fit the silencer to the right hand side and its 4 inch higher than the left. That will not do. Back to the left hand side. Cut the pipe off just under the chain case at the front make a new section with a dog leg at the end to align the two silencers. Five hours later its on looks quite good but I need to make a better rear section at some time. This is what you get with pattern parts.
if its not broke don't fix it.

I did place them side by side when they arrived and they looked ok. After I realised something was way off I checked them more carefully and found that they were out. By this time it was too late I had butchered it. I contacted Dave Silver and he has apologised and give me a part refund on one of the pipes. I have a photo but the file is too big to place on here. if its not broke don't fix it.
