cb77 fork frozen

I have got an old cb77 chopper that I am trying to revive - the left fork was frozen so removed the upper seal section then vised the slider and used a bfh to remove the lower section.

I have the older steel style lowers. Well, my actions broke the lower retaining ring and left the lower bush in the leg. Apparently that was what was holding everything fast. The slider now shows some damage but I think the fork would still work.

There is also a tube left in the center of the lower, is that part of the lower or is it removeable too? I currently have the lower full of oil and hoping for the best. I have no idea how to remove the lower bush or even if I have to. The center rod has me confused as I can't find it on any parts manuals that I have found.

I really want to build this chopper but cannot seem to find any extended legs that would work with this bike.

If you are lucky, the bush got snagged on a pip made inside the fork made by someone putting in an over-long fender bolt. You may be able to see than and reach it with a thin half-round file. Once that pipe is removed you may be able to jar the part out of the fork leg.

The centre tube is part of the slider and welded to it at the bottom.

From my research here that seems the most likely culprit but I was fresh from the battle just now and feeling a little dejected. Happy to get it apart but that was fleeting! I'll dump out the oil later and have a look.

Seems my forks are knackered. I took the other side apart tonight and it has the lower bush frozen in the bottom of the leg - no sign of either of the retainer wires/clips. I could not see any damage from a too long bolt but the position of the bush would back that up.

Another member referred me to forks by frank, I will contact him but I think I need lowers too. Anyone know what other bikes' forks may fit my machine? I think it is a '63 cb77.

The legs are tapered on both ends at about 32mm, 31" or so long. I really want to run the chopper style front end but keep the dual action drums. I need rear shocks too.
