Piston Blowby?First you should close the dipstick hole. The cylinder cover vent should be enough for the engine to vent itself. The vents in the plate should be toward exhaust side. Make sure there is nothing blocking the vent in the cover (dirt wasp love these kind of holes). Then make sure you have the gaskets installed correctly (head cover, then full gasket, then steel plate with holes toward exhaust, then open cutout type gasket. the baffles in the head cover will catch the oil as the air tries to escape out the vent hose. Seal up the hole you drilled in the dipstick. Good luck.
After looking at underside of head cover on work bench, can now see why vented crankcase
air carried oil with it. All the cast fins to collect oil is bypassed when vent plate and matching gasket are installed backwards as mine was. Just keeping my fingers crossed that venting remains good once new gaskets are installed, instead of just at idle.
